Kenya: The Kenya Ports Authority (KPA) is at the ongoing 10th Africa Public Service Day (APSD) celebrations held in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. There, KPA is presenting Kenya among the standout government agencies.
Kenya has impressive strides in public service innovation and digital transformation, that was predominantly highlighted at the event which culminated in a grand closing ceremony at the African Union headquarters.

Principal Secretary for State Department of Public Service and Human Capital Development of Kenya – Dr. Jane Imbunya lauded the notable performance of the country which presented exceptional leadership, that has been demonstrated in marketing, positioning it as a continental leader in public service delivery.
According to PS Imbunya, the Kenyan delegation showcased remarkable progress in transforming public services through technological innovations. Dr. Imbunya further stated that Kenya has re-engineered its public service delivery system through digital transformation including the adoption of modern technologies and Artificial Intelligence to improve efficiency, effectiveness and value for money for the citizenry.
Kenya Presents the digital KargoPay payment system which is one of the key notable innovations. KargoPay has significantly contributed to seamless operational efficiency across the port and also to streamline cargo clearance processes.
Team Kenya is optimistic of clinching awards during the gala dinner to be held tonight at the event with the theme ‘Enhancing the Agility and Resilience of Public Institutions to Achieve Equitable Governance and Rapidly Address Historical Service Delivery Gaps’.
The active participation of Kenya’s agencies with innovative contributions underscores the commitment of the country to advance the service excellence across the region.

One of the standout innovations presented by Kenya is KARGOPAY—a digital payment system developed by the Kenya Ports Authority that aims to streamline cargo clearance and improve efficiency in trade logistics.
Ethiopia’s Deputy Prime Minister – Temesgen Tiruneh which officially opened the #APSD2025 at the AU Headquarters. Kenya’s Principal Secretary in charge of public service, Dr. Jane Kere Imbunya, is leading the delegation, and various Kenyan organizations are competing for the prestigious awards.
