Kenya and Ghana have signed seven agreements that aim to enhance bilateral relations between the two nations. The agreement aims to facilitate trade and investment between the two nations.
President William Samoei Ruto has released his statement in relation to the recently signed memorandum of understanding and said that the agreement includes some signed business associations that belongs to Kenya and Ghana.
He said that the goal is to increase the opportunities for business, considering the private sector and people of both nations.
Reportedly, the MoUs include cooperation in science and technology, tourism, education, governance and defence. The president mentioned that during his discussions with the president of Ghana – Nana Akufo-Addo, the officials have noted that these agreements are significant in the evolution of the diplomatic ties that stand on warm and cordial, dynamic and impactful historic collaboration.
President Ruto marked his statement during a press conference at the office of President Akufo-Addo after the two leaders held talks during President Ruto’s State Visit to Ghana.
Ruto commended the decision of Ghana to remove visa requirements for all Africans by the end of the year, as the move aims at enhancing the integration of the continent.
Considerably, the commitment aligns with the goals of the African Continental Free Trade Area to create a single market in the continent and to drive the economic growth by creating jobs and eradicating poverty.
As per the sources, Kenya has also proposed visa requirements for visitors from all countries in January this year. President pointed out that the free movement of people has contributed to the growth of trading and investment.
It has also increased the travel and tourism between Kenya and Ghana. Both nations will use the opportunities the Africa Continental Free Trade provides to further boost trade.
President William Samoei Ruto and President Akufo-Addo have encouraged that under the Africa Continental Free Trade Area, the two countries have taken bold measures to explore more opportunities.
