Kenya: Board Chairman of Kenya Ports Authority (KPA) – Benjamin Tayari and presided over an exciting football match on Sunday, Jan 12, 2025 in Kwale County. The game aims at nurturing young talent and strengthening ties with the local community.
Reportedly, the soccer match was held at Ukunda Grounds that featured Bandari Youth FC against Kwale Youth Combined in a friendly game that doubled as a talent-scouting initiative for the FKF Premier League side.
As per the sources, CEO of Bandari FC – Tony Kibwana also attended the event and lauded the efforts of KPA in leveraging sports as a platform for community engagement and youth empowerment.
Moreover, the sport event highlighted the Corporate Social Investment (CSI) commitment, promised by Kenya Ports Authority to uplift the vulnerable youths through the sports and development programs launched by the government.
As per the reports received from the officials, it was an intense showdown which was filled with skill and determination. Bandari Youth FC emerged victorious with a 2-0 win over Kwale Youth. The goals, scored in the first half of the match showcased the raw talent hidden in the region. With Bandari scouts, it was keenly observed that the players for potential recruitment into their academy and senior teams performed surprisingly well.
However, speaking during the event Chairman of KPA – Benjamin Tayari emphasized the importance of identifying and nurturing football talent in counties like Kwale. Such counties have been recognised as a hub for young athletes.
Considering this, Tayari said that this match is not just about football but it is more about creating opportunities for the youth and fostering hope by building their future. Kenya Ports Authority is majorly committed to empower through platforms like this.
Notably, Kibwana echoed these sentiments and highlighted the role of football in transforming lives of the players. This emphasised the dedication of Bandari FC team to giving young, promising players a pathway to professional success. The event was a follow-up of the soccer matches happened last time.
