Malawi: Likoma Island of Malawi is becoming a popular choice for investors worldwide and attracting a lot of attention. Some foreign investors who recently visited Likoma Island have shown commitment to investing in the Malawi island.

The District Commissioner for Likoma, Ababukar Nkhoma has confirmed the development to the media. He said the investors have shown interest in tourism, gaming, sports and transportation. These sectors are expected to bring significant development and interest from the rest of the world to the Malawian island.
The district commissioner of Likoma Island is extremely excited about the development and hopes that the new investments will benefit the locals.
He said among others, a European investor is keen on a multi-billion-dollar tourism infrastructure development project on the Island. He further explained that the company will build a five-star hotel among other hospitality facilities.
He said the investors have also shown interest in expanding Likoma Airport. Some other investors intend to construct a state-of-the-art sports complex and a golf course on the island district.
The district commissioner has also provided some details about the development and timeframe of the project. The district commissioner said what remains is the paperwork between the government and the investors.
Further, he claimed that the council will soon engage the community on the upcoming projects.
He further said the investors have been assured that over 300 people will be employed once the construction commences. The project will also employ the people of the country.
