South Africa, Limpopo: Limpopo Department of Health has noted serious concerns about cable theft at Philadelphia hospital, resulting in hospital water shortages.
Philadelphia Hospital is one of the facilities that rely on boreholes for water supply. It must also be noted that during the drilling process, engineers couldn’t find underground water within the hospital premises, but the water was found outside the premises, and this is common in many of the Limpopo health institutions.
A borehole was connected to pump water to the hospital. It is unfortunate that the cable responsible for aiding this process has been stolen.
“We appreciate the temporary intervention by our local municipality wherein, through water tankers, we are able to access water in the hospital though, in some sections where more water pressure is required, we are not able to do so. What saddens us is that the person responsible for this crime is the same person who relies on this facility for healthcare needs.” Said MEC Ramathuba
