South Africa: Limpopo Premier Dr Phophi Ramathuba will be organizing a Road Safety Activation Campaign on Tuesday. The event will be hosted at Mantsole Weighbridge on the N1. The aim of the programme was to promote road safety and reducing accidents during the festive season.
The festive season has been kicked off all over the world. The month of December is one of the busiest and most difficult months in terms of managing the flow of traffic.
The campaign will help the people understand the importance of road safety. The people will also have the opportunity to learn more about the precautions that can be taken while on the road to avoid accidents.
The officials have shared that it is important for road safety to have priority. The Limpopo Premier Dr Phophi Ramathuba will join MEC for Transport and Community Safety Violet Mathye for the event.
The other participants for the road safety campaign include:
- Members of the South African Police Service (SAPS)
- Provincial and Municipal Traffic Officials
- Border Management Authority
- South African Revenue Service (SARS)
- Road Traffic Management Corporation (RTMC)
All the participants have been stakeholders tin the fight towards ensurimg better road safety. It is important for the people to make sure that they have all the knowledge and experience needed.
The campaign wants to highlight the importance of safe road usage. Drivers and road users can kiss to prioritize road safety when it comes to celebrating festivals. Thus, the campaign comes at the most opportune time.
This campaign seeks to raise awareness among road users about adhering to traffic regulations, especially during the festive season. This is the time for increased travel for family visits, vacations, and church pilgrimages.
This influx in road users can result in higher traffic volumes. The activation will feature roadblocks, law enforcement checkpoints, and the distribution of road safety materials to drivers and passengers.
The campaign will also highlight national accident hotspots, including: R37, N1 to Musina, Dendron Road, and R71road. These routes have been identified as high-risk areas for road crashes, and proactive measures will be implemented to ensure safety for all road users.
