Cape Town: The Library and Information Services (LIS) of City of Cape Town is all ready to commemorate the World Read Aloud Day. This time the day is falling on Wednesday, Feb 05, 2025. The city urged the residents to get involved in the annual event, founded by LitWorld in 2010 to highlight the joy of reading aloud and the power of sharing stories.
Reportedly, the World Read Aloud Day is all about bringing people together through literacy. The day is celebrated to ignite imaginations and foster their love for reading.
The selected theme for year 2025 is ‘Sowing Seeds of Hope’. The event will see Library and Information Services (LIS) staff reading books to the children at the Red Cross Children’s Hospital and at other venues across the City of Cape Town.
LIS desires to spread the joy of stories to those who need it the most, regardless of their circumstances.
Interested ones can become a part of the celebration. It doesn’t matter the person is attending the event online or offline. Whether you’re at home or at work or in your local library, everyone will have access to it.
Anyone can be a part of the World Read Aloud Day celebration, as the organisers themselves are inviting people to take a moment to read aloud to a child, a friend or a senior. The officials emphasised that the event will be fun and it is an easy way to make a difference and spread positivity.
One can get involved in the celebration of the day by choosing a book and reading it aloud to someone or anyone of their choice. The event organisers requested to make Feb 05, 2025 a day where they all come together, spread joy and celebrate the power of stories. It will be a great chance for City of Cape Town libraries to read out loud, anywhere, anytime and to anyone.
