Botswana: The Crime Prevention Executive Committee Chairperson for No. 3 Police District (Gaborone) Lynn Jibril recently convened a Crime Prevention Cluster Evaluation workshop. The event was hosted at the Tlokweng on Thursday with several members of crime prevention committees in attendance.

She called on the members of the committees to work towards a renewed mindset to combat crime within the nation. The Crime Prevention Executive Committee Chairperson delivered a brief address at the workshop.

She called on the stakeholders engaged in crime prevention within the nation to come up with new, relevant and effective measures to combat crime. The executive committee chairperson spoke of the significant role played by the groups in combating crime within the country.

In her address, she emphasized the importance of safety and security, highlighting the collective responsibility of clusters. She called on the team to ensure the strategies remain robust, sustainable, and adaptable to the evolving crime landscape.

In her address, she also addressed the attendees about the workshop’s basic aim, which she described as promoting creative and innovative collaboration among participants.

Jibril further encouraged attendantts to actively participate and share information on their area.

Meanwhile, Officer Commanding No. 3 District, Therisanyo Thatayotlhe also attended the event alongside several other stakeholders. He said the workshop also called for meaningful partnerships in building safer communities for the people

According to him, with the help of determination and purpose, the cluster is poised to explore new approaches to crime prevention. They are paving the way for transformative change within the District.

That encouraged attendants to explore new approaches to crime prevention, ultimately leading to the peace and tranquillity that Botswana is known for.

During the closing remarks of the workshop, a member of the Executive Committee, Meluleki Mhlanga said the workshop was an eye-opener. He subsequently thanked the facilitators for sharing information that would enable them to continue performing their duties efficiently.

He motivated other attendants to share their knowledge with other cluster members and transform the country for the better.
