Malawi: Chairperson of the Malawi Electoral Commission (MEC), Anabel Ntalimanja has confirmed that the nation is ready for the national elections 2025. The officials have shared that the administration is well into the preparation for the upcoming polls.
The voter registration exercises, which started in the final quarter of 2024 have also been concluded. All the communities within Malawi have been covered in the voter registration exercises.
The authorities have shared that all the necessary systems have been put in place in preparation for the 2025 General Elections scheduled for 16 September.
The Chairperson of the Malawi Electoral Commission (MEC), Anabel Ntalimanja made these remarks on Wednesday. At the time, he was attending the National Elections Consultative Forum (NECOF) held at Crossroads Hotel in Lilongwe.
Mtalimanja informed the attendants of the the Commission has introduced new measures to enhance the voter verification process, including fingerprint verification systems.
The forum was organized with the aim to provide updates on voter registration inspections. The platform was also used to inform the stakeholders about the electoral calendar as part of preparations for the upcoming elections.
Further, during the meeting, Chairperson Mtalimanja also shared an update about the 19 individuals whose registration information had initially gone missing. The administration has successfully resolved the issue and the 19 individuals who had lost their information, would be able to vote easily and without problems.
The officials have shared that the concerns have been dealt with and as the nation inches closer to the polls, the Malawi Electoral Commission (MEC) will continue their work to make the polling fair and smooth.
