Malawi: Minister Sam Kawale hosts training for Farm Business Consultants

Malawi: Minister of Agriculture, Sam Kawale has taken the charge of official training of Farm Business Consultants. He was present at the Mega Farm Unit office in Kanengo, Lilongwe for the training initiative on November 27, 2023.

The Minister is dedicated to uplifting the agriculture sector of the country. The training sessions making consultants more efficient and professional in duties is proof of that.

The Minister spoke during the significant event on Monday, November 27, 2023. In his address, Kawale urged the consultants to execute their jobs professionally. He believes that it will help in the effective implementation of the mega farms.

He commended the Mega Farm Unit for facilitating the training, saying the move will help several farms obtain funds from financial institutions through the initiative and manage their agribusiness efficiently.

He urged the consultants, who are graduates from Lilongwe University of Agriculture and Natural Resources(LUANAR) to align themselves with the #Mw2063 to complement the government’s effort in achieving the Mega Farm implementation.

LUANAR Vice Chancellor, Professor Emmanuel Kaunda said the University will continue its efforts to make the mega farms initiative a reality through various forms of collaboration with the government.

He commended the Ministry of Agriculture for the good gesture of engaging LUANAR in implementation of mega farms across the country, saying the move will help minimize the productivity challenges of smallholder farmers in the country.

The government of Zambia is extremely excited to be a part of the initiative. The authorities shared several images from the training.

Controller of Agriculture Extension and Technical Services in the Ministry of Agriculture, Dr Alfred Mwenefumbo commended the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) for their unwavering support towards the initiative.

Mwenefumbo said the training will help farmers solicit funds from financial institutions, implement farm management systems and develop business plans for the effectiveness of high crop productivity and the implementation of mega farms.
