Malawi: The government of Malawi has promuised to provice the members of security forces constructed houses for improved standards of living. The Minister of Lands Deus Gumba made the announcement for the construction of houses on Monday during a parliament session.
The officials have shared that the homes will serve as a support for the security forces and their families. The phase one a of the construction has already been completed, as part of the Chakwera administration’s nationwide initiative.
The leaders have shared that it is important for the members of the community to have easy access to the facilities. The Minister has highlighted that that the administration led by president Chakwera want to to build 10,000 houses for the security personnel. The houses will be given out to the Malawi Defence Force (MDF), Immigration, Police, and Prison Services.
He clarified that the construction of these houses will be completed soon as per the announcement made previously. The leaders have shared that the construction of houses is a part of the president’s commitment to support the security services of Malawi.
The President had also pledged the construction of 50 houses in Nkhatabay Central in a previous address in the district. This is a significant commitment on the part of the president for the depending on the availability of land.
The land is now available as a result very soon, the contractor will be on the ground to begin the construction work. The Ministry is giving pieces of land all over the nation for the benefit of the housing projects
“We are already building 50 houses for the police region in Thyolo and Chikwawa, Nsanje, and Mangochi. The authorities are in the second phase of the project. When the contractual obligations that are required for a contractor to be on the ground,” He said.
Member of Parliament of Nkhatabay Central Symon Vuwa Kaunda thanked the President of Malawi Lazarus Chakwera. The president was responsible for recommending that the government should construct 50 houses for the police officers working at Nkhatabay Boma.
The houses for Malawi’s security institutions are a proof of the commitment of the Malawi administration to improving infrastructure. The progress on this mandate can be clearly seen across the country.
The government, by providing these houses, wants to ensure improvement in the living conditions for security personnel of Malawi. They also want to make national security framework stronger and more reliable.
The construction of 10,000 houses has been divided into three phases. Under this, the first phase to construct 1,028 his complete with the houses already handed over to the rightful owners. The second phase will involve 3,300 houses, with most contractors already on-site, while others finalize contractual obligations.
