Zambia: The Mansa Municipal Council has shared the update on the constriction work on the Chilasa Bridge in Lwingishi Ward. The construction is a part of the Mansa Central Constituency was completed on time.
The officials have shared that the construction of the bridge was extremely important for the members of the community. The residents of the constituency have been looking forward to the completion of the development project.
However, some of the people had started the rumour that the construction project had not been handed over to community after the agreed upon timeline. The administration of the Mansa Municipal Council has however refuted these claims and spoken to the media.
The administration has presented the original facts to the media in an official interview. Mansa Municipal Council Public Relations Officer, Rabecca Mawere spoke to the media on Tusday.
He disclosed that the Mansa Municipal Council was constantly monitoring the works of the bridge The contractor, Ledor Limited, completed and handed over the project within the contractually agreed timeframe.
He spoke about the media reports by some citizens that the workmanship of the project is poor and highly priced. Mawere noted that the project involved a lot of work from the members of the community.
“The construction of the bridge, which is located about 55 kilometers from the Central Business District, involved the excavation works, construction of the foundation base and the making of the box culverts,” she said.
Furthermore, Mawere stated that the community in Lwingishi Ward applied for the construction of the bridge. This will help significantly in order to facilitate easy passage of farmers.
“The area used to flood in the rainy season making movements difficult for farmers,” she said.
The Mansa Municipal Council awarded the construction of Chilasa Bridge project to Ledor Limited and was approved in the 2023 Mansa Central Constituency Development Fund at a value of K497, 462.52.
