South Africa: The premier of Free State MaQueen Letsoha-Mathae announced that they will fight the vice of corruption in the province. She made the commitment in her closing remarks at the Fezile Dabi Social Compact Imbizo in Tumahole.
The Premier highlighted that she is committed to rooting out corruption and enforcing compliance in all dealings with the government. At the time of making these remarks she was addressing the community of Parys.
In her address, the Premier MaQueen Letsoha-Mathae said that the 7th administration will do away with every network and foundation for corruption and malpractice in Free State.
The leader has been working hard to make sure that her administration continues to work for the people. The Premier issued a stark warning to office bearers, officials, and contractors in the government.
She conveyed that those who have exploited state resources without delivering on their contractual obligations will face consequences. They will not only be barred but will be compelled to repay public funds.
She emphasized that every official’s performance will be kept in check by the officials overseeing the success rate of the projects. The officials have shared that it is important for the government to remain proactive and support the infrastructural growth of the province.
They plan to achieve this through continued employment contingent on their tangible contributions to the community.
She reaffirmed the strict enforcement of the 30% local beneficiation policy, stressing that it would be applied without exception. Addressing contractors from outside the province and local officials, she highlighted the absence of councilors and reiterated her commitment to restoring services through the Thusong Services Centres.
Finally, The Premier declared that all service providers have to maintain the highest standards of professionalism and compliance. Their work will not be judged based on their gender, but on its quality This is the only way they will be considered to be eligible for any government work.
“We will turn things upside down until the rot is no more,” she concluded. While concluding her address, she highlighted that her administration is series is determined to root out corruption.
