South Africa: KwaZulu-Natal MEC for Education, Mbali Frazer visited the INkosi Zwelakhe Secondary School. The trip was organized ahead of the easter holidays as a part of the Operation Siyahlola program.
The MEC for Education shared some glimpses from the visit on their social media. MEC Frazer was accompanying the MEC for Human Settlements and Public Works, Sipho Nkosi, during the trip to the school.
The trip was also significant in the light of the Human Rights Day event which is commemorated internationally on 28 March 2024.
The school is situated in Hluhluwe area. The Members of Executive Council visited several educational institutions to celebrate the Human Rights Day. The two government officials have received the reports of the organization.
According to the reports, INkosi Zwelakhe Secondary School, which is a new school built in partnership with Africa Foundation. The organization has been functional for less than half a decade and provides quality education to the students.
INkosi Zwelakhe Secondary School started operating in 2020. At the time, the school exclusively had learners only till Grade 8. The school has the first class of Grade 12 in the 2024 academic year, and educators are working hard to get a 100% pass rate.
During MEC Mbali Frazer and Nkosi’s visit, the school spoke of the various issues that they have been facing. These include water supply problems and fencing. The school’s management called on the administration to help find innovative solutions to the issues faced by the people.
MEC Frazer promised to address the challenges that were raised by the school principal. She also used the opportunity and motivated the Grade 12 learners who were in the school for holidays study session.
“All your parents deserve to be happy. You must work hard for your future, everyone who is successful today worked very hard,” MEC Frazer.
INkosi Zwelakhe Secondary School has only completed phase one of the construction process. Meanwhile, the priorities for the next phase include a security guard room, fencing, vehicle parking, and the Science Lab.
