South Africa: MEC Jabu Mbalula, the Department of Community Safety, Roads and Transport visited the Katleho District Hospital. The visit of the Member of the Executive Council marked the end of the Nelson Mandela Month for the department on Tuesday.
MEC Mbalula noted that they had participated in the number of activities at Katleho District Hospital in Virginia. During the said visit, MEC met with the Acting CEO of the Hospital: Dr. Lopez Doyle and his team.
The department of Community Safety, Roads and Transport shared some images from the meeting. The officials have shared that the various departments in the Free State Provincial government have taken the opportunity to celebrate Nelson Mandela through visits to various hospitals schools and more.
The administration clarified that they wanted to honor the legacy of Mandela with noble acts of kindness and support. The theme of the Mandela Month is, “It is still in our hands to combat inequality.” To this end, Premier of Free state also urged the people of the province to support the mandat of Nelson Mandela Month and support the vulnerable people.
The member of the executive council also shared that he had the honor of meeting Chairperson of the Board of the Hospital: Muso Ntetso and his executive.
This day is part of the Provincial Nelson Mandela Programme under the leadership of the Free State Premier Maqueen Letsoha-Mathae. According to the official reports, MEC Mbalula is responsible for ensuring that the state of the hospital and services to the people are improved.
The MEC Jabu Mbalula started by painting the casualty waiting room of the hospital which he had visited alongside his team. He then proceeded to donate toys, 2 television sets, and 2 air conditioning system to the children’s ward.
Furthermore, the member of the executive council also participated in the pothole patching programme. The aim of the exercise was to provide the casualty patient drop-off area face-lift.
This effort was also in the spirit of the National Core Standards which aims to ensure quality of care in all health establishments in South Africa.
