South Africa: The MEC for Community Safety and Transport Management has launched the official Trans Kalahari Corridor Law Enforcement Operation in Rustenburg.

According to the reports of the Department of Community Safety and Transport Management, the delegation of the three member states arrived in Rustenburg earlier this week on the 11th instalment of their campaign to deepen trade relations.

While speaking at the launch, MEC Sello lehari placed much emphasis on the role of the tripartite alliance formed by the TKC management committee.

“The role that three countries have played to ensure that we lead an economic growth agenda in the SADC region.”

“TKC has provided a platform to further unite the African Continent. Therefore, it is time to work together to ensure that the intended objectives to attract investment are achieved”, said MEC Lehari, who also led the joint law enforcement operation in the morning.

Rustenburg, as the economic hub of the province, is well-positioned as the host city of the TKCJLEO.

“As a municipality, we are excited about having the TKCJLEO venture in our backyard. This stimulates the local economy and provides for the advocacy of road and rail infrastructure,” said the Executive Mayor of Rustenburg Local Municipality while delivering a message of support.

The Trans Kalahari Corridor Management Committee is a tripartite transboundary Corridor Management Institution that was established with a political and economic vision to pursue or contribute towards deeper regional integration programmes of SADC, SACU and NEPAD.
