Zambia: The Minister of Information and Media Cornelius Mweetwa laid down a strong economic base laid Zambia poised for greater economic growth in 2024 and beyond on 26th December.
Minister reposted that Zambia recorded a major economic breakthrough in 2023, courtesy of the prudent economic policies being implemented by the New Dawn Government under the leadership of President Hakainde Hichilema.
Chief Government Spokesperson Hon. Cornelius Mweetwa cites the debt restructuring deal and the contracts signed with investors to revitalize KCM and Mopani mines on the Copperbelt, as some of the key achievements scored by the Government in 2023, in line with its robust national transformation agenda.
Recounting the Government’s successes on the Prime Television program dubbed “Oxygen of Democracy” hosted by Alexander Musokotwane last night, Hon. Mweetwa who is also Information and Media Minister, said with these and other fundamentals in place, the country is poised for deeper and broad-based economic growth in 2024, and beyond, for the benefit of the people of Zambia.
Mweetwa also cited the assent to the Access To Information (ATI) Bill by President Hichilema last week, and the removal of the Defamation of the President clause from the Zambian statutes, as fundamental achievements by the Government in broadening and deepening the country’s democracy, contrary to unfounded assertions by the opposition that democracy was shrinking in Zambia under the New Dawn Government.
The Minister further noted with delight that the mealie meal prices were stabilizing courtesy of the measures the Government had put in place by bringing on board ZNS and other millers to produce cheaper mealie.
This regime of economic stability has further taken a new step forward as the government is working diligently to improve the economic condition provide greater stability to the working force and give more space to the business.
Through this financial stability and equilibrium between finance and economic growth, the country would prosper, and this condition would bring fresh international investment into the country, which would further be the leading nation having more employment.
