Zambia: A Monze based woman on Sunday stabbed her ex-husband after a family dispute. The suspect attacked her ex-husband with a knife on the ankle. The incident happened between Saturday, February 3 and Sunday, February 4
The official investigation into the matter is yet to start as the Southern Province Police is yet to deliver a statement confirming the development. Meanwhile, preliminary investigations have revealed that the disagreement happened over the custody of the child.
The woman responsible for the stabbing incident has been identified as ‘ Ba Make Ruth’. The suspect is supposed to be in her late twenties. Meanwhile, the ex-husband identified as John is alleged to be in his thirties.
As per the sources, the couple have been broken up for some time. The incident of stabbing is not new to the couple. A neighbour of the couple claimed that this is the third time the woman has stabbed the ex-husband.
An anonymous woman of Monze’s Freedom B Compound narrated that she heard some noise coming from the house, which led her to alert other neighbours.
She says upon reaching the scene, she noticed the ex-husband coming out of the house bleeding from the ankle on the left foot while the woman remained in the house.
The witness says the man later fell to the floor, bleeding severely, as a crowd watched in dismay while trying to help the man and detain the woman. The community have extended their sympathies to the ex-husband, who was assaulted by his wife on various occasions.
The witness disclosed that the woman has remained scot-free, hence the community’s move to have her apprehended by the police. Â Many members of the community have shared that justice needs to be served against the suspect.
The man was rushed to Monze Mission Hospital for treatment while the angry mob wrestled the woman and took her to the police while registering the complaint for the incident.
Further, social media users have also extended their support to the victim and condemned the woman for her actions.
