South Africa: A motor passenger in Verulam KZN sent the Reaction Unit South Africa an image which showed the back of a vehicle with its registration number in view. The motorist shared the image saying that he had noticed a person lying unconscious or dead in the trunk of the vehicle in the picture.

The motorist reported the incident to the Reaction Unit of South Africa at approximately 18:47. The family in question was following a white Toyota Etios on the Umdloti Beach Road next to the Verulam Testing Ground in Kwazulu Natal.

They noticed the trunk pop open when the vehicle hit a speed bump and saw a man lying inside the trunk. The family also shared the details of the man’s appearance with the officers. According to the reports, the man was wearing a striped green shirt.

He was lying motionless in the boot of the car. The family began to follow the vehicle closely. The vehicle went through the second road bump and the boot closed partially.

The family then became worried about their safety and slowed down their vehicle. They drove in the direction of Umdloti Beach.

After some time, the family saw the same vehicle stopping at the red robot at the intersection of Ottawa Old Main Road and Umdloti Beach Road. The passenger then snapped this picture and reported the incident to the Reaction Officers.

The officials shared that they immediately started the investigation into the incident and also shared some details with partnering agencies. According to RUSA officials, the vehicle is a white sedan and had several dents.

The officials alleged that the vehicle may be recently panelbeated. Reaction Officers checked the registration numbers on the vehicle to trace the owner of the sedan.

However, they found that it had no details on record.  A cable tie can be seen protruding from the partially closed trunk in the image that was shared by the Reaction Officers. The officers are investigating the incident further.

A recent update from the Reaction Unit suggests that the person whom the motorist had spotted in the trunk of the car was intoxicated. His friends had put him in the trunk of the car as the vehicle was at capacity.

The patrol station attendant who filled the vehicle up revealed to the Reaction Officer that she had spoken to the man prior to him passing out. She also noted that the other occupants of the vehicle were also highly intoxicated.

The officials have clarified that they have not identified the victim or any of the other occupants of the car.

Meanwhile, some people also reflected on the increasing number of criminal acts in the region. At first glance, the situation seemed like a murder, which prompted passionate responses from the people.

Some of the residents of the province also noted that the Verulam area of the province is cursed. Further, the people of the country have urged the communities to come together to find the solution to the issues.
