Zambia: The Mpulungu Town Council has taken on the rehabilitation on a project to construct the 120 kilometer road that connects Mpulungu to Mbala and Nsama districts. The road project is being taken up with the aim of improving connectivity within communities.
The people of the Mpulungu Town Council have been looking forward to the rehabilitation of the road project. The project will help in improving the overall business ecosystem of the community by improving movement and connectivity.
The officials have shared that the road rehabilitation project iss strategic for the transportation of agricultural produce and farming inputs. The construction and rehabilitation will be done using the Constituency Development Fund of the nation.
The officials have shared that the project is being taken up by the local administration to promote better infrastructure development in the community. The administration is delighted with the fact that thee Constituency Development Fund is helping communities attain infrastructural growth.
Mpulungu Member of Parliament Leonard Mbao made the announcement about the beginning of the construction project. He observed that the continued increment of the Constituency Development Funds (CDF) allocation has resulted in enhanced rural development.
Mbao, who is also Northern Province Minister, revealed that the decision to improve the road, which has been in a poor state, is meant to improve the delivery of farming inputs and produce.
“This area is the plateau where we get most of our agricultural produce in this district, and transportation has been a challenge due to the status of the road, the rehabilitation of this road will be key in improving connectivity.
Further, Mpulungu District Commissioner Gehard Sikazwe said the impact of CDF is a testament to the devolution of functions to the local authorities.
“This is what the President intended, that the money and development reach rural areas. It shows that devolution is working,” said Mr Sikazwe.
Mpulungu Town Council Assistant Director for Engineering Efema Chilufya said notable progress has been made on the project. The officials have shared that the members of the community are delighted with the development.
