South Africa: Multiple people got injured when a vehicle rolled over N2 near Mvoti.
As per the sources, IPSS Medical Rescue, alongside the IPSS Search and Rescue team, arrived at the place of the incident as soon as the accident occurred.
KwaDukuza Municipality (KDM) Fire Department also reached the crime scene immediately after the incident happened.
The fire department and the rescue team are still on the scene at the N2 near Mvoti, where a motor vehicle got overturned.
According to the reports received from the scene, it was indicated that a person bakkie laden with passengers got rolled over multiple times after the driver lost control.
As per the reports, all the passengers who were sitting at the back of the vehicle were emitted down to the embankment.
Notably, IPSS Search and Rescue, along with the KDM Fire Department, has set up a rope system in order to haul the patients up the N2 embankment.
Reportedly, the patients have sustained the injuries. Some got injured moderately and some were in critical condition.
The injured passengers were stabilised on the scene by IPSS Medical Rescue, EMRS and received another necessary private service. The patients were also transported to nearby facilities for further care.
The investigation of the case is still in progress and the family members or close ones or relatives of the injured passengers are yet to be informed about the incident.
The N2 is a national route in South Africa that covers Cape Town, including George and Gqeberha. The national road also runs through East London, Mthatha and Port Shepstone. It also connects Durban to Ermelo.
The N2 main highway is located along the Indian Ocean coast of the country of South Africa. Currently, the length of the highway is 2,255 kilometres.
Moreover, it is one of the longest-numbered routes in South Africa. Earlier, before 1970, the designation ‘N2’ was only applicable to the route from Cape Town to Durban but was extended later.
