Zambia: Vice President of Zambia, Mutale Nalumango has highlighted the government’s unwavering commitment to develop the creative sector of the country. The administration of Zambia believes that the sector has the potential to serve as a catalyst for sustainable development in the country.
The Minister made these remarks at the opening of the 2025 Creative Industries Business Summit in Lusaka on Wednesday. The event was attended by several important delegates and creatives from across Africa and beyond.
Minister Nalumango reiterated the government’s commitment to improve and support the creative industries of the country. According to the Minister, the government is making diligent efforts to develop cultural assets in the country.
The government is extending their support to the arts through funding and educational initiatives These initiatives are being implemented in several parts of the country and will be making sur to support the creatives of the country.
Mutale Nalumango made these remarks during a speech which was read for her by the Minister of Labour and Social Security, Brenda Tambatamba. The Minister of Labour and Social Security attended the event on behalf of her colleague
She noted that on the world level, the creative economy generates over 2 trillion dollars each year. Despite the numbers, the contributions of Africa in the field of creative economy remains significantly low.
Meanwhile, Namibian Deputy Minister of Education, Innovation, Sports, and Culture, Dino Balloti was also present at the event. During his time on the stage, he talked about the critical role of the creative industry as the third pillar of the economy. He advocated for African regional collaboration to penetrate global markets.
Nigerian renowned actor entrepreneur turned Lawyer Kanayo O. Kanayo was also present at the event. He delivered a brief address at the event for the noted that Africa must not cooperate in isolation but through vast open cooperation in order to boost the creative sector on the continent.
