Kenya: MV Myny, a container vessel has made its inaugural call. The ships has arrived to the Port of Mombasa. Here the vessel is set to offload 3,200 containers. From here the vessel will proceed to the port of Dar es Salaam for its next journey.
Container vessel – MV Myny is a renowned ship model operated by the French shipping line company CMA-CGM. It is counted among the largest container ships, which docked at the Port of Mombasa this years and measures 299 meters in length.
This inaugural visit of the vessel marks the growing prominence of the Port of Mombasa, as a trade hub in Kenya. It will further increase the ship traffic that signals robust maritime trade.
Master of the vessel – Captain Valeyiy Komarnytskyy was recognised with a certificate of first call and received a plaque from the General Manager of Cargo Operations – Dr. Sudi Mwasinago, to make the first visit of the ship happen.
Considering this, Dr. Sudi extended his gratitude to CMA CGM for enhancing port operations at both the major ports of Kenya i.e. Port of Mombasa and Lamu Port.
General Manager Sudi reaffirmed that they don’t take this partnership for granted. For him this association is a milestone as they promise to continue to facilitate smooth operation towards double container traffic.
Previously, MV Myny was welcomed at the Port of Lamu. There it successfully transported 550 transhipment containers. Moreover, CMA CGM has recently announced the launch of a dedicated liner service to the Port of Lamu, whose objective is to boost transhipment trade.
This year, Lamu Port of Kenya has handled twelve (12) CMA CGM vessels. Five (5) more container ships are expected to arrive soon within the next two weeks.
Earlier, Kenya Ports Authority (KPA) has released the latest Port Performance Outlook which included the scheduled list of the ships, along with several other containers, vessels and oil cargos to dock at the Port of Mombasa and Lamu Port, this month.
As per the list the ports receive daily vessels according to their scheduled date and deliver the trading material.
