Narok County Government hosts 3-Day training for LFU’s representatives

Kenya: The Narok County Government conducted a three-day training forum for the representatives of Local Urban Forums (LUF's). The training forum was conducted in partnership with the National Council of Persons With Disabilities.

Kenya: The Narok County Government conducted a three-day training forum for the representatives of Local Urban Forums (LUF’s). The training forum was conducted in partnership with the National Council of Persons With Disabilities.

The Director for Persons with Disabilities, Julius Natiya, was also present at the event.

The training was coordinated by the United Disabled Persons of Kenya (UDPK), a civil society organization, and Dupoto, a community-based organization financed by VOICE ( innovate and Influence).

The session aimed to increase the capacity of members from LUFs to seek accountability skills and knowledge.

The County Director for Persons with Disabilities, Julius, addressed several issues.

According to him, the areas of concern included employment and representation, sports and sporting facilities, access to government procurement opportunities ( AGPO), provision of healthcare services at health facilities, disability mainstreaming, and awareness creation.

County Director Julius highlighted these areas. He also looked forward to providing more opportunities to the Disabled People. The event was based on giving equal opportunities to them in different sectors.

Several other delegations, including the Director of Dupoto CBO John Kool, Chairman of LUFs Narok Central Paul Sopia, Chairman of LUFs Narok East Ndume Punyua, and Disability and Inclusion Consultant Nathaniel Muthomi, also joined the event.

County Director Julius encouraged the County Government to offer employment opportunities and to create a disability-friendly environment for Persons With Disabilities.

The participants at the Local Urban Forums (LFUs) had the opportunity to enhance themselves and encounter all the challenges effeciently. They worked on a scheduled report on crucial health, education, and trade achievements and encountered difficulties.

The present delegations and directors from several departments, including, CBO John Kool, Paul Sopia, Ndume Punyua and others, the event were extremely pleasured and delighted to attend the event and experience the insights.

Reportedly, the three-day training forum encouraged the county’s vulnerable sections to enhance and empower themselves. The Participants had the insights to delve into their interest in different sectors and identify their strengths and weaknesses.
