South Africa: General Officer Commanding SA Army Support Formation, Major General Thituwi Edward Mulaudzi, honoured National Ceremonial Guard with his entourage visited National Ceremonial Guard, which specialises in Ceremonial parades, Very Important Persons (VIPs) Service and Musical Services on the National level.
The silent guard was in position at the unit’s main entrance to welcome the General Officer Commanding with a salute. At the receiving line was acting second in command of the National Ceremonial Guard, Major Susan Magadani, who welcomed and introduced the unit staff members to the General Officer Commanding.
After that escorted, the General Officer Commanding to the briefing room whereby the Officer Commanding National Ceremonial Guard, Lieutenant Colonel Sharon Boitshoko Mailela, gave a presentation and orientation to the General Officer Commanding with regards to the status of the unit and its operational capability.
After the presentation of Lieutenant Colonel Sharon Boitshoko Masilela, the General Officer Commanding had the opportunity to address unit members in the main hall. In his opening statement, Major General T.E. Mulaudzi mentioned that, Precision should be one of the principles of the National Ceremonial Guard because he is impressed with National Ceremonial.
The General Officer Commanding mentioned that National Ceremonial Guard builds the image of the Defence Force. He further stated that whenever he sees National Ceremonial Guard on national television and social media platforms, he is proud of South Africa and the whole world.
Therefore, the posture and profile of the Ceremonial guards, the VIP Protectors and the Military Band should always be maintained, said the General Officer Commanding.
Major General Thituwi Edward Mulaudz mentioned that his focus areas are: Military discipline, cleanliness and professionalism. That is how we should always uphold and display ourselves, as he mentioned that he is a Military man and loved the Military and parades.
With that said, the Major General further highlighted that when it comes to the termination of service of our deceased members, Human Resource Section and commanders should carry on supporting the deceased’s family even after the member is no more.
He emphasised the support that the unit should still extend to the families in ensuring that required documentation is completed and timeous communication with the families until all processes are done, and the family receive what is due to them, we should care and support more said the General Officer Commanding.
Major General Thituwi Edward Mulaudz concluded his address with unit members by saying that he acknowledges the good outstanding work, commitment and dedication that the unit displayed when executing its tasks.
He further quoted that “We fight to achieve the common goal, for the success of National Ceremonial Guard, SA Army Support Formation and SA Army at large”.
After the address with unit members, the Officer Commanding and commanders of different sections escorted the General Officer Commanding for a walkabout inspection of the unit facilities.
The facilities inspected were projects that the unit conducted which included the upgrading of the living quarters, salon, barber and laundry. The leaders of the projects gave a brief background to Major General Mulaudz on how the projects were conducted and their status thus far.
The transport park and the kitchen facilities were also presented to Major General T.E. Mulaudzi, mentioning projects that are in progress and others still to be initiated.
After the inspection, Major General T.E. Mulaudzi thanked Officer Commanding National Ceremonial Guard Lieutenant Colonel Sharon Boitshoko Mailela for the warm welcome and hospitality.
