Mauritius: The Prime Minister of Mauritius, Dr Navinchandra Ramgoolam has extended condolences on the death of the former Prime Minister of India, Dr Manmohan Singh. The death of the Indian Politician and celebrated economist was felt across the globe, especially among the allies of the country.
The Prime Minister of Mauritius has signed the Condolence Book which was opened in memory of the former Prime Minister of India, Dr Manmohan Singh. The book of condolences was signed in the afternoon hours of Saturday at the Indian High Commission in Ebène.
The former Prime Minister of India passed away on Thursday 26 December 2024 at 92. The Prime Minister of Mauritius has delivered a statement for the people of the country.
The leaders of the Mauritius government have shared that they are saddened by the death of the people. The officials have shared that it is a sad day for the members of both the nations.
The former Prime Minister of India was very close to Mauritius and has helped the country in several development avenues in the past.
The Prime Minister also recalled that he had met with Dr Manmohan Singh, both as Leader of the Opposition and Prime Minister.
The Prime Minister of Mauritius took the opportunity to speak fondly of Dr Manmohan Singh and how he had helped Mauritius with his wise counsel
According to the Prime Minister of Mauritius, the economist played a significant role in the Mangalore Refinery for Mauritius to get access to petroleum products at a guaranteed and reasonable price.
Prime Minister Ramgoolam also extended his message of condolence to the family of Dr Singh and paid his tribute to the man.
Dr Manmohan Singh became the Prime Minister of India on 22 May 2004 and served as Prime Minister for two consecutive terms. His first term lasted till May 2009. He became Prime Minister for the second term from May 2009 to May 2014.
