Mauritius: The government of mauritiius has inaugurated a new Post Parcel Centre at Riche Terre Courts Mammouth. The launch of the post office was hosted on Wednesday on the occasion of World Post Day.
This is the 150th year of the beginning of postal services in the world, which started with the establishment of universal Postal Union in 1874.
The establishment of the Post Parcel service at Riche Terre Courts Mammouth was both symbolic and welcomed by the people. The World Post Day observed annually on 9 October. The officials have shared that the post and parcel center will help in improving communication in the community.
The officials have shared that the government of Mauritius also launched the First Day Cover commemorating the 150 years of the Universal Postal Union. The whole world was commemorating the anniversary as a unit.
Beginning in Bern, Switzerland, the postal services have become an inseparable part of all national economies. The administration shared that it is the responsibility of the people to utilize the services to their best capacities.
The Chairman of Mauritius Post Ltd (MPL), Mr Ranna Swamber; the Officer in Charge of the MPL, Mr Jayraj Ittoo, representatives from the Courts Mammouth as well as other personalities were present.
To commemorate World Post Day, the MPL organised two blood donations namely at Port Louis and Riche Terre. Further, Swamber highlighted that it is the fifth Parcel Centre which has been opened.
The official noted that this highlights their commitment of the MPL in modernising its services and investing in logistics development. He indicated that the MPL places emphasis on emerging technologies and the development of e-commerce service to provide efficient service delivery thereby enhancing customer experience.
Furthermore, Ittoo, he pointed out that the MPL is part of a global network that connects people, empowers communities and drive economic development. He reaffirmed determination to building a strong foundation and to continue serving customers with innovation and excellence.
