Zambia: The police force of Mbita has received reports of a defiling incident in the Ngwenya Compound of Livingstone. The victim of the crime has been identified as a 7-year-old girl who was allegedly assaulted by her father.

The suspect is said to be 50 years old and a resident of Livingstone’s Ngwenya Compound. The incident has been reported to the police force by the mother of the victim.

The 35-year-old reported the incident on Monday. She also informed the officials that it happened two days ago, on Saturday.

The victim informed her mother that she had pain in her vaginal and anal area after she was assaulted by her father. The officials have filed the incident report and started an investigation into the matter.

The officials have also shared the details of the investigation with the media through an official police statement. Notably, the victim lives with her mother and 70-year-old maternal grandmother.

According to the Southern Province Commissioner of Police, Auxensio Daka, the victim was with her grandmother on the day of the incident. Her mother left for work after leaving her daughter under the 70-year-old’s care.

Around 09:00 hours on the same day, the victim decided to go and visit her father who divorced her mother four years ago. The victim returned from her father’s house around 18:00 hours and informed a confidant that she was experiencing pain in her anal region.

The unnamed confidant then alerted the mother of the situation after which the victim was taken to the hospital. After the examination of the 7-year-old was complete, the doctors asked the mother to report the case to Police.

The doctors confirmed that the 7-year-old had been violated. He says the Police issued the victim with a Medical Report Form which was presented at Livingstone University Teaching Hospital for further examination and management.

The police officers have not arrested the suspect while the investigation into the matter is currently ongoing.
