Nigeria Customs Service held training program on Seamless Importation Process

The ‘World Customs Organisation’ has a tool which is Advance Ruling and gives a platform for stakeholders to leverage upon to have clarity in areas of carrying out their business transactions at the seaport seamlessly without hitches.

Nigeria Customs Service held a one-day training program for the stakeholders on the Seamless Importation Process in Ikeja Lagos State.

Reportedly, the workshop was held on Tuesday, July 16, 2024. It consisted of the Zonal Coordinator Zone ‘A’ – ACG Saidu Yusuf which was represented by the Commandment of the Customs Training College, Ikeja, Deputy Councillor – Haniel Hadison.

The Deputy Councillor expressed that the workshop originally aimed to ensure the seamlessness and clarity in Customs processes and procedures. Especially, considering the regarding shipment clearance at the seaport and airport.

According to Hadison, the ‘World Customs Organisation’ has a tool which is Advance Ruling and gives a platform for stakeholders to leverage upon to have clarity in areas of carrying out their business transactions at the seaport seamlessly without hitches.

However, the sensitisation began with the officers and now has metamorphosised to stakeholders. Adding further to it, Hadison said that it would reduce the influx of illicit goods. Also, there will be transparency in Customs Operations at all levels.

Notably, stakeholders at the workshop commended the service for a job well done.

Considerably, Ebunoluwa Davies, the one who represented Nigerian Breweries Plc said, “I thank the Nigeria Customs Service for bringing forward the good initiative and I believe it will be a great opportunity and privilege to the entire Country.”

The workshop session also had an interactive session where the stakeholders shared the concerns about the importation of the process.

Nigeria Customs Service came into being in 1891 and was saddled with the responsibilities of revenue collection, accounting for same and anti-smuggling activities.
