Nigeria: Flight from United Airlines makes an emergency landing in Lagos. The flight en route to Washington crashed due to technical faults on Friday 24, 2025.
Reportedly, a video of the emergency flight landing is going viral in which six people can be seen who are serious injured out of which four were passengers and two were crew members.
United Airlines flight, travelled from Lagos, Nigeria to Washington Dulles International Airport, Virginia and experienced a sudden jolt. The airline confirmed the incident and resulted in chaos on board with trays as well as food and other items scattered across the cabin.

As per the reports received from the airline, Flight 613 was forced to make an emergency return to Lagos, where the six individuals injured were rushed immediately to a nearby hospital. However, the jolt was not caused due to turbulence. The airline is now working with aviation authorities in the US and Nigeria to investigate the real cause.
Considering the incident, United Airlines Spokesperson – Leslie Scott confirmed that all the injured people have been released from the medical care.
According to the flight data received from the FlightRadar24, it was revealed that the aircraft began a sudden descent from cruising altitude for roughly 93 minutes after the take-off, and dropped approximately 1,000 feet in just a minute.
This is not happening for the first time, previously, Flight 613 got involved in a disruption as the same plane was diverted earlier this week on Tuesday and raised the concerns, that whether the two incidents are connected or not.

The flight on Friday carried 245 passengers in it, with eight flight attendants and three pilots. United Airlines confirmed the arrangements to re-schedule the affected passengers on alternative flights.
Director of Public Affairs at Nigeria’s Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) – Michael Achimugu confirmed that no fatalities were involved in the flight incident. The passengers were later accommodated in hotels after the emergency landing.
The incident grabbed the attention of all due to a similar event that involved a Boeing 787 last year, in 2024. It happened when a flight from Latam Airlines suffered with a mid-air dive, following which Boeing issued an advisory to airlines that operated the Boeing 787 and suggested them to carry out the inspection in the cockpit seat switches.
