Cape Town International Airport has welcomed 226 weekly international flights. Whereas, the Cape Town Cruise Terminal hosted 88 ships which visited during the 2024-25 cruise season.
The Provincial Minister of Agriculture, Economic Development and Tourism – Dr. Ivan Meyer confirmed that the Western Cape is all set for another dapper summer tourism season in 2024.
Reportedly, plenty of safe-guarding measures have been implemented during the tourist season to ensure the safety of visitors and locals. These measures include a festive tourism safety operation that involves the deployment of 5000 personnel across the metro city to fill life-guarding positions and the likes as needed.
The 2024-25 Summer Season also includes a youth holiday programme and a seasonal cleaning programme which will target the streets, beaches and public spaces of the Cape Town and desires to captivate more and more tourists. Indeed, safety has always been a top priority for the Western Cape Government.
According to Dr. Meyer the province is guided by the Provincial Tourism Safety Strategy and the coordination of activities between his department and other stakeholders that involves in safety, disaster management and emergency services.
However, the Minister of Agriculture, Economic Development and Tourism is very much optimistic about the upcoming tourism season.
Moreover, the minister also considered the efforts put by the Department of Home Affairs to make it easier for tourists from high-growth markets, such as China and India, to visit the country.
Notably, the Western Cape is also extremely well-placed to capitalise on the recent introduction of a digital nomad visa. A local media channel has further reported that the tourism sector must add an astounding R27.3 billion to the gross value of the City of Cape Town and then further support it with approximately 92,000 jobs that lasted for years alone.
Upcoming summer holiday programmes are very vibrant and full of fun activities, that will grab more tourists and travellers and its being anticipated that it might break the records again and will set a new one for the new season.
