“Nigerians will soon smile again” says President Bola Tinubu

President Bola Tinubu has temporarily banned appointees from travelling on foreign trips on public funds for three months.

Nigeria: President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has assured Nigerians that the nation is about to turn the corner, concerning the economic difficulties. He announced this during the dinner which was held with the Senate in the state house.

In the dinner with the Senate to break the Ramadan fast at the State House on Thursday, President Tinubu said, “I am grateful for what you have been doing. The natural challenge we are facing will be over soon.”

He stated that on the current economic difficulty, they are about to turn the corner. “Our revenue has improved. All we have to do is to control expenditure and manage ourselves better,” mentioned the President.

He quoted, “Light is at the end of the tunnel and Nigerians will soon smile again.”

Pointing at the controversial budget, the President stated that he knows the arithmetic of the budget and the numbers that he brought to the National Assembly and also knows what numbers came back.

Tinubu said that those who are talking about malicious embellishment in the budget do not understand the arithmetic and did not refer to the baseline of what he brought.

He further added that the perpetrators of the killing of soldiers in Delta State will face a certain justice. He mentioned that the armed forces are working hard and that we should not allow attackers to undermine the integrity and value of the armed forces and its leadership.

“We will continue to encourage and fight for our sovereignty for our individual rights to exist and we will succeed in banishing poverty from the land,” said President Tinubu.

Reportedly, President Bola Tinubu has temporarily banned appointees from travelling on foreign trips on public funds for three months. The suspension will be implemented with effect from April 01, 2024.

The president talked about this for once when the chief of staff to the president, Femi Gbajabiamilla, issued on March 12 to the office of the secretary to the government of the federation.

President Bola Tinubu said that they are taking this action because of the rising cost of travel expenses.

“I’m telling government officials to give me two weeks’ notice for the approval on any public funding. This temporary measure aims at cost reduction in governance and as cost saving measure without compromising government functions,” said Bola Tinubu.

Bola Ahmed Tinubu is a Nigerian politician who is Nigeria’s 16th and current president. He was the governor of Lagos State from 1999 to 2007 and senator for Lagos West in the Third Republic.
