Nigeria: The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation Limited (NNPCL) granted an additional one million barrels of crude oil to the Dangote Refinery to begin production.
Notably, the delivery is the fourth consecutive shipment of 1M barrels of crude oil to the Dangote Refinery.
As per the sources, the refinery is expected to receive a total of six million barrels of crude oil before beginning production.
Considering the grant, Dangote Refinery stated that the preparations are in top gear.
For the commencement of production in Dangote Refinery, the petrochemical company has received the fourth crude shipment of 1M barrels of bonny light crude.
The bonny light crude oil will be supplied by the Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation Limited (NNPCL) and it is also expecting the fifth crude shipment to begin anytime from now onwards.
“The fresh 1M barrels of crude was the fourth consignment to be delivered to the Dangote facility out of the 6M barrels of crude being expected by the World’s largest single-train refinery,” said Dangote Refinery.
Considering the initiative, the Refinery’s objective is to turn Africa’s largest oil producer into a net exporter of fuels. It is a long-sought goal and an asset for the OPEC member who completely relies on imports.
Reportedly, the Dangote refinery is expected to start the production of diesel and aviation fuel this month.
Moreover, the production of Premium Motor Spirit, which is popularly called petrol, is being delayed by the supply of crude oil in instalments.
As per the official reports from the last month, the Dangote Refinery received three shipments of crude. Earlier, Dangote also confirmed that the long-awaited refinery will start with 350,000 barrels per day.
As per the planning, at full capacity, the Dangote refinery will be able to produce 650,000 oil barrels per day. Subsequently, roll out with 540,000 barrels per day at the initial stage.
