Nigeria Premier Football League has secured a $7.5 million three-year sponsorship deal, which is one of the largest in the league’s history. Top Afrobeats Artists are set to attend the games to boost attendance and fan engagement.
NPFL secured the deal with Chairman Gbenga Elegbeleye and confirmed that negotiations for a new title sponsorship deal valued at more than $7.5 million for over three years. During an interview at the Maldron Hotel in Glasgow, Elegbeleye disclosed that the official unveiling of the partnership is expected before the league’s Annual General Meeting to be held on August 07, 2026.
Chairman Gbenga Elegbeleye stated that they are finalising the details. He has travelled abroad to conclude discussions and ensure that everything is properly put in place. Beyond becoming the title sponsor, this partnership will also strengthen the digital presence as they are working to grow the league’s social media platforms through influencers and strategic content creation.
The deal is reported to be worth of approximately N10.2 billion and is set to rank among the most significant commercial partnerships in the history of the NPFL. As part of efforts to reposition the league, Elegbeleye revealed that discussions have been held with leading Nigerian entertainers, who have agreed in principle to support the NPFL’s fan engagement campaign.
The Chairman also announced plans to establish a dedicated social media department comprising experienced sports journalists, digital creators and young media professionals. The unit will focus on consistent content creation and will expand the league’s online audience.
Elegbeleye added that they are setting up a social media department that will bring together journalists who have remained committed to the league and young, creative media professionals. The goal is to consistently tell the NPFL story and connect with fans across digital platforms.
As per the scheduled calendar, Elegbeleye reaffirmed that the NPFL will continue to operate on an August-to-May calendar, describing the structure as a reflection of the league’s growing professionalism. The 2026-27 season is scheduled to kick off in late August.
