Nairobi, Kenya: A Community-based Organisation, Nyalenda Young Turks, is participating in a five-day insightful “Africa Youth Connect Summit“. The Summit is hosting from Friday, December 8, 2023, to December 12, 2023, at Kenyatta International Convention Centre, Nairobi.
It was held in effective partnership with the Government of Kenya and UNDP with several other community organisations, departments, and other sectors of Kenya. These include:-
- Kenya Community Development Foundation
- Change the Game Academy
- FIDA Kenya Jooust
- USAID Boresha
- Jamii Tech Soup Kenya
The “Africa Youth Connect” Summit was held with a significant mission to facilitate Youth participation and Engagement in Kenya.
As per Nyalanda Young Turks, this Summit has proved to be among one of the best platforms for the local Youth to have more meaningful engagement & innovation.
The Theme of this year’s Summit is “Youth Innovating a Borderless African Renaissance”. The theme aimed to put the Youth in Africa at the centre of solutions to the problems faced on their continent.
- During Day 1 of the Summit, the local Youth had the opportunity to interact and engage in meaningful discussions with each other.
- On Day 2, several more youths from the local county. The Summit was also addressed by the current and fifth President of Kenya, William Ruto.
Nyalenda Young Turks Organization also joined day 2 with the rest of the youths in Africa to share & advocate for borderless Africa, support for innovation & friendly youth policy.
The Current and Fifth President of Kenya, William Ruto, was also present at the event. He addressed the present Youth and assured them of his consistent support and commitment to facilitate them.
President William Ruto assured the African youths meeting in Nairobi that Kenya is at the forefront of ensuring that Youth become the drivers of the continents economy through a borderless Africa.
The President noted that the leaders are committed to converting African borders into bridges for the people to connect. “Connect borders into stepping stones for our young people to live in a borderless, wireless continent,” he added.
The President also noted that the biggest concern for youths in Africa is opportunities in the job market. Therefore, Kenya is investing heavily in areas with the most significant job returns, focusing on the ICT and digital economy, the creative industry, and sports and entrepreneurship.
