Office of the Ombudsman urged Gaborone City Council to collaborate and co-host the Second International Ombud Exposition. Ombudsman Advocate Stephen Basi Tiroyakgosi made the request during a courtesy call to Mayor Austin Abraham. The Gaborone city council shared some images from the event on their social media account.
The city council is delighted to collaborate with the office of Ombudsman for the initiative. The exposition will run in 2024. The event is scheduled to start from July 29 to the August 2, 2024. During the week long event, many people of Gaborone and other attendants can showcase their services.
During the courtesy call, Ombudsman asserted that the event will have a great impact on the economic development of the City. Mayor Austin and Advocate Stephen Basi Tiroyakgosi talked about several important topics and discussed collaborations.
Advocate Tiroyakgosi said that the city will also benefit from the initiative. Delegates from 50 countries will participate in the exposition and get the chance to showcase their products.
Gaborone City Mayor Austin Abraham said it is a great initiative that he will consider seriously. He believes that the people must benefit from the opportunities which can help in promoting the City. He believes that these opportunities will also help in improving the economic standards of the residents of Gaborone.
The Mayor of the City also highlighted that events of this magnitude give Batswana entrepreneurs a chance to market and showcase their products. They get the chance to network with their counterparts from other countries to grow their businesses.
Deputy Town Clerk Daniel Katjinotjiwa also spoke to the Ombudsman during the courtesy call. He assured the advocate that the City Council will do whatever it takes to support this initiative. The city council administration believes that the event has the potential to benefit residents of Gaborone.
Katjinotjiwa said preparations for the event will be a part of the council’s plans to ensure the visitors arrive in a welcoming environment.
