Malawi: The farmers in the Makalani area of Blantyre are happy about a successful harvest during the 2023-24 agriculture season. They are happy to note that the crops performed well even though the region was going through dry season.
The credit for the success of the farming season can be given to the funding from One Nation UK. The agriculture stakeholders of the country are also happy with the success of the harvest.
The farmers received farm inputs and educated about many good agricultural practices. The contributions of the NGO had an important role in helping the farmers achieve the good crop yields.
The Gift of the Givers Malawi were monitoring the output of the agriculture season closely. Further, the organization worked collaboration with the Agriculture officers and Extension workers from the EPA.
Through the grant, farmers learned about the many new practices that they can use to make their agricultural practices more refined and fruitful. The Non-Government organization was impressed by the dedication to learning and adopting new techniques.
The farmers’ efforts resulted in a 70 percent harvesting rate. The results are a proof that the resources that were provided to the farmers have been put to good use.
The members of the Farming community have shared that they are delighted with the results that they are seeing. The members of the farming community were led by chairperson Abiti Lydia Ligola.
After the harvest, the farming community expresses profound gratitude for the assistance the received from the One Nation UK. They acknowledged the transformative effect of the inputs on their livelihoods.
One Nation UK provided the farmers of Blantyre with the following seeds and supplies,
2 kg of hybrid maize seed
1 kg of legume seed
10 kg of NPK fertilizer
10 kg of UREA fertilizer
100mls of pesticides
The farmers of Malawi are working hard to provide sustainance to themselves and their families. However, they are also helping the newer farmers become more knowledgeable about the correct agricultural practices.
