Former 400m sprinter from Botswana Onkabetse Nkobolo recently visited the Botswana Table Tennis Association. He was present at the BTTA’s Junior Diteemane training camp where he spoke to several youngsters.
During his visit, the athlete shared his experience of being on the field and encourage the team of the Botswana Table Tennis Association for their future endeavors. Onkabetse Nkobolo is a remarkable athlete who has represented Botswana to countless international platform.
The members of the Botswana Table Tennis Association was delighted to welcome the athlete among them. While at the training campaign, the Botswanan sprinter and athlete motivate the Junior team of ethe BTTA.
The team is preparing for the Africa Youth Championships 2024. The table tennis championship is scheduled to be held for a week, from July 15-21, 2024, in Gaborone.
The event will be hosted at Game City rooftop and Botho University Multi-purpose hall. As per the participating youngsters, the championship holds significant promise for the budding athletes.
The team is extremely excited to participate on the event and represent Botswana in front of the entire continent in their home ground.
In his motivational speech Nkobolo talked about the importance of athlete in the journey of an athlete. While speaking to the juniors, he took inspiration from his own professional athletic career and shared his personal insights with them.
He claimed that he related with the young Table Tennis Players sitting in front of him. He stressed on the significant role played by discipline in achieving success both on and off the field.
Meanwhile, the athlete’s words served as a beacon of inspiration for the young players. They helped in instilling in the juniors the values of commitment, perseverance, and dedication.
The junior table tennis team is working hard to prepare for the the championships. The authorities have shared that the visit from Nkobolo inspired them and gave them an insight into the path that they want to take.
