OQBP prepares for Continental boxing tournament in Zambia

Zambia: Oriental Quarries Boxing Promotions (OQBP) have expressed their excitement for the Continental boxing tournament. The event will be hosted at the Government complex on Saturday.

The officials have shared some important details regarding the boxing tournament, including the number of bouts and special events, The OQBP Administrative Secretary Ben Saili shared that the tournament will have a total of nine bouts.

One of the nine bouts will give women the opportunity to compete in the feather weight category. The contest bout is being hosted during the tournament after the approval of Zambia Professional Boxing and Wrestling Control Board as well as the African Boxing Union (ABU).

The excitement and anticipation for the boxing boxing event is experiencing a steady rise among the boxing lovers of Zambia. The tournament will be contested by a number of international boxers.

The OQBP Manager Christopher Malunga confirmed that the international boxers will arrive at the at the Kenneth Kaunda International Airport in Lusaka. The approximated time of arrival for the first of the main boxers is at approximately 12:00 hours.

Further he said that boxing officials from Kenya and South Africa will arrive on the following day at the airport. Further, the management and authorities of the Ori ental Quarries Boxing Promotions assured that the event will be hosted with every safety concern in mind.

The tournament spectators can enjoy the matches peacefully and without threat to their safety. The Zambian representatives’ boxing coach, Micheal Zulu, has expressed his utmost confidence in his team.

He said the Zambian boxers are well prepared for the tournament. African Boxing Union bantamweight Champion David Mwale will fight for the ABU title against James Mungeni of Kenya.

The continental champion also expressed his eagerness for the event to the media practitioners. He said he will put up a good fight with his latest fighting style named “the Snake style.”

Meanwhile Gracious Simwalizi said he is very ready for the fight as it is a great opportunity for him to prove himself. He will be contesting for the regional ABU title against Hassan Milanzi of Malawi

The matches will start with the Featherweight title fights, the Regional ABU title fight and finally, the ABU title fight.
