South Africa: The chairman of Corporate Services, Cllr F Zuma, the General Manager of Corporate Services, Mr Sphamandla Mnguni and the representatives of workers in OThukela council went on a campaign to visit the workers where the water is washed.
The purpose of this campaign is to educate employees about the importance of respecting work, being punctual and working without bias. This campaign started this morning in Inkosi Langalibale municipality.
This campaign is now moving forward in the municipality of Okhahlamba. All municipalities under Thukela will be visited by this team.
According to Mr Sphamandla Mnguni, the main objective is that they want the OThukela Council to return to normal as it is working under a lack of funds, and they are trying in every way to improve the situation so that the community will be able to get the basic needs of water supply and sanitation.
Another important thing that Mr Mnguni said is that they urge the workers to use the resources in the right way; this will help the municipalities to get funds to work properly and will greatly help the municipality to get out of this situation of working under a lack of funds.
Continuing, Mr Mnguni revealed that they had cut extra hours for employees with the aim of the municipality saving money. And Mr Mnguni then urged the workers to cooperate with them so that everything in the municipality would return to normal, as what they are doing has been encouraged by the MEC of the Department of Cooperative Governance and Local Leadership and the Auditor to do it.
