Edo State: The Chairman of the Esan Central Local Government Area, Paul Iyoha, has taken several steps towards empowering the residents of the area. The aim of the Iyoha-led administration in the Local Government is to combat poverty in the land.
The Local Government Chairman assured the people under his charge of his commitment to their welfare. The people of Esan Central have appreciated the chairman for his dedication and extended their best wishes to him.
The Chairman gave this reassurance recently at the Local Government Secretariat in Irrua. He was a part of the distribution exercise of grinding machines. Thirty-five beneficiaries of the distribution exercise were drawn from across the various wards in the Local Government.
The chairman noted that his passion for seeing people empowered and doing well for themselves in society drives his political zeal. He further said that his administration will continue to push for more persons to be empowered in various forms of human endeavours.
According to him, “this Government at both the State and Local Government levels is committed to the welfare and well being of the people and doing all within its power to ensure that a greater number of its citizens are empowered and gainfully engaged with the intent to see a larger part of the society pulled out of the multi-dimensional poverty level”.
While handing over the grinding machines to the beneficiaries, Chairman Iyoha admonished them to put the machines to profitable use. He asserted that the machines must help them provide for their immediate families as well as contribute their quota to their immediate environment.
Responding on behalf of the beneficiaries, Maria Okoebor thanked the Local Government Chairman for the good gesture and promised that they would make good use of the grinding machines.
Chairman Iyoha had earlier in November, 2023 distributed palliatives to and empowered members of persons living with physical disabilities in Esan Central LGA, to enable them become self reliant.
Present at the handing-over ceremony were the Head of Local Government Administration (HOLGA), Okhiku Enomana, the Treasurer of the Local Government, Felix Osawaru and several heads of Departments.
