Zambia: The members of the public are flooding the Kasama Central Police station to claim their stolen items. These items were recovered by the police force in Musenga Township after a large scale home break in the community.

The police shared that they are delighted with the response of the community members. The Northern Province Police Commanding Officer, Lucky Munkhondya shared the details of the incident with the media.

He says a number of people have come through to identify their items. Munkhondya says so far, about eight members of the public have managed to positively identify their items.

She named some of the items that were positively identified by the members of the community. The items include: A deep freezer, two laptops, one battery, and four television sets.

On April 24th, police in Kasama recovered a number of stolen items from a home in Musenga Township. The items were stolen by unknown suspects who were involved in several housebreaks

The police force receiving information about the location of the items from the informant. He informed the officers that he had seen some people taking a fridge and a television set suspected to be stolen in one of the houses in Musenga compound.

The recovered items include mobile phones, television sets, dining chairs, laptops, home theatres, computer processors, blankets, and mountain bicycles, among other items.

The Police Commanding Officer shared the development during a media interview in Kasama.

She has since urged the public to continue visiting the police station, to identify their properties, especially those whose homes were broken into and had reported their cases to the police.

Munkhondya has also revealed that the suspects are still on the run, but stated that efforts are being made to apprehend them.

She further appealed to the community to quickly alert the police if they see the suspects.

She emphasised that the goal of the police is to create a crime-free living environment for the citizens of Zambia, particularly in Northern Province.
