At the time of the incident, the dogs were having an altercation with a monkey in the yard of the house. On seeing this unfold, the eighty-year-old owner and his seventy three year old wife decided to intervene.

When the owners tried to interrupt the altercation, the dogs attacked them and wounded them. The owners then called up the Reaction Unit, asking for help. According to the RUSA team, they received the call at around 1:34 PM.

The unit dispatched a team of their officers to Dawncrest KZN. On arriving, they provided the elderly couple with some first aid. Afterwards, the couple reached the hospital privately.

The incident of pitbull attack and dog bites is not unheard of anywhere in the world. Pitbulls, like the pets of the victims, are known to be highly energetic and fierce dogs.

In many cases, pitbulls harm their owners or bite them without motivation. However, in this case, some experts may see a clear reason for the attack.

The pit bulls were in an aggressive altercation with the monkey, and when the owners interfered, the aggression was redirected at them. As per several animal experts, it is something very common among high-energy animals.

Earlier, these dogs were directing their energy at something that was not immediately dangerous to the owners. However, when the couple interfered, the animals may not have received enough warning to recognize that they were attacking their owners.

With the right training, it is possible to keep these incidents from happening. The breed of Pitbulls are fierce protectors of their owners and homes.

People on social media have shared several stories similar to the elderly couple’s. They also hoped the couple would have a speedy recovery.
