Saint Lucia: The Prime Minister of  Saint Lucia, Philip J Pierre will betravelling to the Bahamas for the 31st annual meeting of AFREXIMBANK. The meeting will be hosted in Nassau Bahamas from June 12 to June 15.

During the five day visit, the Prime Minister of Saint Lucia will also participate in the Afri- Caribbean trade and Investment forum. The event, being hosted in Nassau will be attended by counterparts from both the nations within the Caribbean and the African Continent.

Africa and Caribbean have been looking into collaboration and commitment with respect to better trade relations. The two regions share common cultural and traditional roots. Africa and the Caribbean also bond over the shared experiences of the colonial rule.

The aim of the three day initiative is strengthen the bonds among the African and Caribbean Counterparts. During the meetings, the leaders will take inspiration from a common past and work towards a shared bright future.

The theme for the 2024 edition of the Afri- Caribbean trade and Investment forum is, “Owning Our Destiny: Economic Prosperity on the Platform of Global Africa. The leaders from the Public and Private sectors of will come together to discuss their issues in trade and investment.

The AfriCaribbean Business Council has spearheaded the project for the benefit of all the stakeholders. The aim of the project is to strengthen the ties at economic front and promote investment opportunities between Africa and the Caribbean.

The leaders of Africa and Caribbean have been working together to promote more interregional trade between Africa and the Caribbean. The 31st annual meeting of the AFREXIM bank and Afri-Caribbean Trade and Investment Forum will welcome a variety of attendants.

Some of the crucial attendants will include:

  • Representatives from the African Export-Import Bank
  • Representatives from the Caribbean Community
  • Representatives from the African Union
  • Representatives from the Africa Business Council
  • Caribbean Community Private Sector Organizations.

During the forum, The Prime Minister Philip J Pierre will deliver a speech at the presidential Plenary. PM Pierre’s remarks will center around the theme, “United We Stand, Divided We Fall: Building Alliances for Shared Prosperity.”

The Prime Minister will deliver his remarks on the second day of the forum and reflect on the need for unity among the attendants. The Deputy Prime Minister, Ernest Hilaire will take over the charge of the Prime Minister in the absence of PM Pierre.
