Debswana Diamond Co hails athletes for historic win in Bahamas

Debswana Diamond Company congratulated the Botswana men’s 4x400m relay team for their historic victory in the World Athletics Relay Championship.

Botswana: Debswana Diamond Company congratulated the Botswana men’s 4x400m relay team for their historic victory in the World Athletics Relay Championship. The team has secured a gold medal in the tournament with a world leading time of 2.59.11.

The international athletic event is being hosted in Nassau, Bahamas where the team representing Botswana is seeing remarkable success. The Botswana team made history and became the first African country to win a men’s sprint event at the World Relays.

The success at the international event in Botswana is being by becoming triumphant in the men’s highly anticipated 4x400m. The Debswana Diamond Company expressed their pride and delight on the success of the men’s team.

They have been the sponsors of Botswana Athletics Association (BAA), an affiliate of the Botswana National Sport Commission for the last 3 years. The people of Botswana highlighted some of the biggest performance indicators that made the success more substantial.

The financial support was anchored on the number of qualifying athletes for the Paris Olympics surpassing previous records.  Debswana is therefore proud that the sponsorship is truly living its purpose to turn diamond dreams into lasting reality.

Executive Head of Corporate Affairs Rachel Mothibatsela applauded team Botswana and spoke about the team’s performance in Bahamas. She said, “The incredible performance by the relay team is testament to the impact we want to create as Debswana to make life brilliant for Batswana.

“We are happy to see the collective effort of the team and wish them all the best for their future as they compete in other international events ahead of the Paris Olympics.” She added. The President of the BAA Moses Bantsi also appreciated the members of the Botswana men’s team.

He highlighted that the sponsorship has helped the association to improve athlete’s ranking at world level. The support from the organization also helped in capacity building of administrators and coaches.
