Dominica: Dr Roosevelt Skerrit, the Prime Minister of Dominica is gearing up to attend CARICOM and CELAC meetings during the upcoming week. First, the Prime Minister will be travelling to the Guyana capital of Georgetown for the first half of the week.
Guyana is hosting the Forty-Sixth Regular Meeting of the Heads of Government of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM). The meeting is scheduled to start on Sunday, February 25 and continue for four days, concluding on Wednesday, February 28.
The Forty-Sixth Regular Meeting of the Heads of Government of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) will serve as the platform for several critical discussions. The Caribbean Community Heads of State are expected to hold discussions on Crime and Violence, Territorial Threats, and regional food and nutrition security.
The officials would also discuss climate change and climate financing, which are some of the most critical issues for the member states. The agenda for the Forty-Sixth Regular Meeting of the Heads of Government of CARICOM includes discussions on regional developments in transportation and the Ongoing situation in Haiti.
Issues pertaining to the developments in the rest of the world will also be discussed during the meeting. One of the major topics that would be under the spotlight during the four-day meeting would include the developments in the Middle East.
Prime Minister would further participate in the discussion to work towards free movement for the nationals of the Caribbean Community. The four-day meeting is being viewed as an important excursion on the part of PM Skerrit.
On March 1, Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit will travel to St Vincent and the Grenadines. The twin-island nation is hosting the 8th Summit of Heads of State and Government of the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC).
During the one-day summit, the leaders in attendance will discuss the strengthening of the CELAC and sustainable development of the Caribbean and Latin American Region.
