Dominica: The Prime Minister of the Commonwealth of Dominica, Roosevelt Skerrit welcomed the Commonwealth Secretary General, Patricia Scotland to a brief meeting. The leader of the commonwealth paid a courtesy call on the Prime Minister on Wednesday.
The two leaders met in the office of the Prime Minister in Roseau where they discussed several issues of critical importance. The Prime Minister shared some glimpses from the meeting on his social media account.
He announced that they discussed the ongoing work at the Commonwealth Secretariat. The Secretary General of the Commonwealth also discussed the initiative through which they would support the SIDS.
Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit highlighted that they need support in various sectors to ensure that they can continue to develop and flourish. During the meeting, PM Skerrit and his guest discussed several areas of partnerships.
They discussed collaborations with the private sector and digital training courses, particularly for the benefit of the youth. The leader of the Commonwealth also highlighted some of the programmes aimed at supporting the SIDS.
The commonwealth is working with the small island states for the implementation of #Commonwealth CFAH, Blue Charter and Common Sensing programmes. The Commonwealth has been working dedicatedly for the development of the Caribbean region.
CSG Patricia Scotland stated that she was honored to meet the Prime Minister for these fruitful discussions. She also met the President of the Commonwealth of Dominica, Sylvanie Burton during her visit to the island nation.
Sharing her experience, CSG Scotland noted that she was delighted to receive such a warm welcome from the President. Patricia highlighted that she was delighted to be back at the land of her birth and meet the leadership.
With President Burton, The Commonwealth Secretary general spoke about the value of AI in development. They also touched on its utility in the empowering the youth of the nation.
The people of Dominica have appreciated the Prime Minister for meeting the leader of the Commonwealth. The people believe that good working relationships with the international leaders will help the country in meeting their developmental goals.
