Dominica: The Prime Minister of Dominica, Roosevelt Skerrit took to his social media account to share some glimpses of the Thibaud Primary School groundbreaking ceremony. The event was hosted on Wednesday, March 6 and saw several members of the government in attendance.
The Thibaud Primary School is one of the six schools that the government of Dominica is constructing in collaboration with the People’s Republic of China. The development of the infrastructure will contribute significantly to the upliftment of the education sector of the country.
The Prime Minister announced that after the construction of the school is completed, it will serve as a centre for special education. The students getting an education at the primary school will get the chance to discover and nurture their talents beyond education.
The school will support the upliftment of students in various fields, such as sports, culture, science, and the visual and performing arts. The school is being constructed as a part of the government’s rehabilitation project after the destruction of Hurricane Maria.
The construction phase of the primary school has started with the groundbreaking ceremony. The construction project will go on for several upcoming months.
The other five schools which are being constructed under this initiative include:
- The Sineku Primary School
- Calibishie Primary School
- Bellevue Chopin Primary School
- Goodwill Secondary School
- Tete Morne Primary School
The Prime Minister is positive that the collaboration between the People’s Republic of China and the Commonwealth of Dominica will impact the developmental trajectory of the country positively. He recently shared some images showing the progress at The Goodwill Secondary School.
The people of the commonwealth of Dominica are delighted to see the developments that are taking place in the country. One of the social media users who hailed from the Thibaud community expressed his delight for the construction of the school.
