St. Kitts and Nevis: Prime Minister Dr. Terrance Drew calls for bold unity at ACTIF2025 held in Grenada and said that ‘This is our time’. He delivered an address on Tuesday, July 29, 2025, at the 4th Africa Caribbean Trade and Investment Forum (ACTIF2025), calling on leaders and citizens alike to reimagine the Atlantic as a divide and as a bridge of opportunity.
PM Drew emphasized the importance of strengthening ties between Africa and the Caribbean to achieve this shared progress and prosperity.
Considering this, Prime Minister Drew said that it is indeed an honor for him to have the opportunity to address the remarkable gathering at the 4th Africa Caribbean Trade and Investment Forum. The forum has grown stronger, more impactful and more essential with every edition.
Its existence is a shining testimony of the shared resolve to reunite the peoples of Africa and Caribbean through trade, investment and purpose.
Dr. Drew emphasized that Africa and Caribbean must not remain of the periphery of global development but should boldly step into leadership roles in shaping a fairer and more inclusive world.
According to Drew, they should be bold enough to tear down the bureaucratic and physical barriers that separate them. They should be visionary enough to build bridges of commerce, culture and cooperation. He added that this is not hard, it is doable. What it requires is clarity of vision, consistency of purpose and collective will.
Prime Minister of St. Kitts and Nevis underscored the progress referencing successful academic exchanges, cultural fusion and trade missions between Africa and the Caribbean. He also urged that travel between the two regions will be as seamless as travel to Europe, free from visa hurdles and complex routes.
Drew said that they must make travel between the Caribbean and Africa as normal and accessible as travel to Europe. The people must be able to book a flight in any part of Africa and return within the same week. No visa hurdles, No complex routes, just connection.
Furthermore, PM Drew issued a call to action to transform ideas into deliverables and strengthen the ties that unite Africa and the Caribbean as ACTIF2025 convenes global stakeholders.
He stated that they should unite as one people, that scattered states. But as one Global Africa they are bound by ancestry and by ambition. Also, they should build Atlantic Bridge and step boldly into a future defined by their own vision. He said that this is their time.
PM Drew further added that the Federation of St. Kitts and Nevis is demonstrating its leadership by forging meaningful partnerships with Afreximbank and will expand opportunities for trade, education and culture across the Atlantic.
