St Kitts and Nevis: Dr Terrance Drew, the Prime Minister of St Kitts and Nevis celebrated the success of the country’s citizenship by investment Programme. In the 2024 of the Citizenship by Investment Index, St Kitts and Nevis has emerged as the best rated programme among 12 jurisdictions.
In celebrating this achievement, PM Drew appreciated the role of the Citizenship by Investment Unit (CIU) and other stakeholders involved in making the achievement possible.
The CBI Index, published on Wednesday, has deemed the St Kitts and Nevis Citizenship by Investment Programme best among CBI offering nations across the globe. The nations were put to test on their desirability among HNWIs on nine key pillars.
St Kitts and Nevis, scored perfectly in four of the nine Key Pillars, which is a testament to the platinum standard of the programme. Notably, The nation has emerged on the top of the CBI Index for the fourth consecutive year in a row.
The Prime Minister took to his social media to share his pride on the achievement on Thursday. He also took the time to reflect on the challenges that they had had to face in the previous years pertaining to the nation’s CBI Programme.
He reflected in his post that when he assumed the charge in 2022, he had publicly acknowledged that taking the reigns of the programme would be challenging. He highlighted the two main reasons for his declaration.
First, the previous government had mismanaged the programme before he took charge. Further, they had not taken steps to diversify the economy. As a result, they were 70% reliant on CBI funds.
Upon assuming the leadership role for the nation as well as CBI, they had to take steps to rectify the situation. The Prime Minister highlighted that in their efforts they wanted to ensure transparency and good government for the reformation of the programme.
PM Dr Terrance Drew was delighted to note that their efforts yielded several positive results. He said that the reforms introduced by his administration, introduced greater transparency and governance.
He was proud to note that these initiatives have proven to be the right approach for the CBI Programme. He highlighted that while the occasion calls for celebration, their work must continue.
